Welcome to Recommending Characters! In this section of the blog, I’ll be making an overview of a certain character from one of the franchises I’m into once every two weeks, as well as highlighting their best and most important moments in canon, in hopes that it’ll make the readers interested both in the character
and in the game itself!

Long time no HeliosR! Well, it hasn’t even been that long, but since a lot of things have been happening in its Main Story with the release of the latest entry, Chapter 14, it feels like it’s been a while since I last wrote anything for the franchise. I suppose that’s what happens when the franchises aren’t evenly spread in the schedule…

Today, I’m introducing a new sector with the character featured in this entry: Akira Otori! He’s one of the newest rookies in the South Sector, and has a lot of passion and energy for the profession. However, things haven’t always been like that for him, which is more than evident when you look at his shared past with Will and Ren, his childhood friend and cousin, respectively (together, they’re also called ‘Rainbow Trio’). But before getting to the reason why, let’s take a look at his profile first!

This time, I’m back with another Project SEKAI character, though this time she isn’t a member of Wonderlands x Showtime, but Nightcord at 25:00 like the first character I tackled from this series: Ena Shinonome! A slightly misunderstood but popular character nonetheless, I was happy I got to write about another character from my favorite unit!

A slightly misunderstood but popular character, Ena (alias ‘Enanan’) is the artist behind the artworks for Nightcord at 25:00’s songs, put together by Mizuki, their PV maker and editor. However, her individual works not attached to any of the group barely get any attention, which she doesn’t take too well… But before saying anything else, let’s go over her profile first, both when the game first came out, and now after the 3rd Anniversary!

I’m back with another Mahoyaku entry, and this time, it isn’t for a character from Eastern Country, but from Western Country: Chloe! He was the only character in the latest poll that actually won in votes instead of having a tie with another character, so he goes first in this rotation of entries!

Chloe is Rustica’s apprentice and companion in his travels, and dreams of becoming the best tailor in the land ever since he was little, using his magic to quickly change clothes and make new outfits, both for him and for his friends. In the middle of their travels, both he and Rustica get summoned as Sage’s Wizards, which is a chance for him to make more friends as his childhood was surprisingly isolating… But I’ll explain that after taking a look at his profiles!

It’s been quite a while since I last covered a character from a series that’s not regularly featured, but it’s finally time to tackle Mika Kagehira, from Ensemble Stars!, a game that I’ve mentioned in both entries of My Favorite Seasonal Events (both times so far taking the top spot, no less) but that had yet to make its way into Recommending Characters! Mika is a member of the unit Valkyrie, which was introduced in 2016, a year after Enstars’ launch, and boy did they come in strong… Let’s check his profile out!

Today, November 26th, is Mahoyaku’s 4th anniversary! And what’s the best way to celebrate other than featuring a character from this game in today’s entry of Recommending Characters? So here is Heathcliff, yet another wizard from the Eastern country

Being the only son of a noble family in the East, Heathcliff hasn’t had a lot of chances to interact with others his age, though that’s not the main reason why some of his insecurities are so deep-rooted, and only intensify further after being summoned as a Sage’s wizard and having to carry the responsibility it entails… But I won’t say anything else for now, so let’s more on to his profile!

It’s been a while since I last posted a character that wasn’t for Project SEKAI, but finally another game gets the spotlight again, and it’s turn for Nico, the character that came out victorious in the HeliosR section of the latest poll by the luck of the draw, as there was a tie between, well, every voted candidate!

Added to the game less than a year ago, Nico is a member of the 12th Robins, a generation of heroes at HELIOS who were all led by the same mentor, Robin Goodweather, before moving on to another job. In Nico’s case, he entered the Anti-Eclipse Unit after passing an exam, like most of his teammates except Sage, but despite all their years together, there used to be a time in which he was more distant…

The character I will be tackling in today's entry is Rui Kamishiro, from Project SEKAI! I thought that Gray and Dino (my first and second favorite characters in HeliosR respectively) being also the first characters to be featured in the blog was a fun coincidence, but for two characters of the same game and unit to be featured back-to-back? Now that’s even wilder! Either way, Rui is also one of my favorite characters in Project SEKAi, as well as the rightful winner of this game’s section in the latest poll, so I was looking forward to writing for him!

Rui Kamishiro is one of the members of the theater troupe Wonderlands x Showtime, in charge of the Wonder stage along with his tropemates, Tsukasa, Emu, Nene, as well as their stage director. Before joining the group, however, he’d been putting on shows on the street on his own, using robots of other trinkets, made all by himself, which caught the other members’ attention. However, there was a certain reason why Rui put on shows alone that WxS might not catch on until much later… But that’s all I’ll say for now until we go over his profile!

It’s finally time for the second entry on Project SEKAI characters in this blog, Tsukasa Tenma! Unlike the last characters featured from the regular series I cover, he was chosen at random between the voted candidates because of a tie in the votes. Nonetheless, last doesn’t mean least, much less after all the big celebrations in Project SEKAI because of its 3rd Anniversary (in which Tsukasa’s card actually came home to me!), so let’s get started!

Tsukasa Tenma is one of the members of the theater troupe Wonderlands x Showtime, in charge of the Wonder Stage along with his tropemates, Emu, Nene and Rui. His passion for theater and performing goes all the way back to his childhood, as he saw it as a way to make Saki, his sickly younger sister, smile. Since then, he’s got the objective of becoming a ‘future world star’ (self-proclaimed). However, he might have forgotten about this as he sets off in yet another audition… But before explaining anything else, let’s go over his profile first!

October’s first entry, as well as HeliosR’s second character feature in this blog is none other than Dino Albani, winner of the latest poll! Coincidentally, Dino is my second favorite character right behind Gray, featured all the way back in August, so finding out the results was a pleasant surprise for me!

Dino Albani is one of West Sector’s mentors, who joined them later in the story due to certain circumstances, and who in turn wasn’t present since the very beginning of the game, being added to the character roster a few months after its release. Along with Brad and Keith, he was once a member of the 10th generation of rookies in a group led by Jay, as well as 11th generation’s Oscar and Asch’s mentor shortly after. However, after moving to the notorious Anti-Eclipse unit, something happened that changed his fate forever… Without teasing anything else, let’s move over to his profile!

This time, however, I’m going to be tackling a character that doesn’t exactly come from a game, but whose franchise does have a very prominent mobage on the scene – Kanon Shibuya, from Love Live! Kanon is the center for the newest Love Live ‘main’ group, Liella!, which has been active for a few years now, and although she might seem like the average ‘Love Live center girl’, there’s much more to her than it seems! So let’s check her profile out.

Today it’s time to finally introduce the second Mahoyaku character in this series, as well as the most voted character on August’s poll: Nero! Though not as much as Faust, Nero is also one of the characters I like the most in this game, being from Eastern Country (my favorite country), so I’m very glad I got to write for him (and on his birthday month, too!). If you keep up with the game’s development, you’ll probably know that Mahoyaku has just finished with the second part of its Main Story, after a year and a half in distribution, so I also really wanted to write something for one of its characters in commemoration.

Owner of a restaurant in Eastern Country, Nero’s wishes for a peaceful life after a more than complicated past were interrupted when summoned as a Sage’s wizard after one of the most disastrous Great Calamities attacks in wizard history. Nonetheless, despite his reluctance to teamwork, he’s always more than willing to prepare meals for the people living in the Wizard Manor, with the exception of a certain Northern wizard he might already be familiar with… But I won’t spoil anything more yet, so let’s dive into his profile overview!

Today, I’m going to introduce a character from yet another franchise (although it’s the last one I’ll tackle regularly from the three already introduced): Kanade Yoisaki from Project SEKAI! This game is my favorite mobage right behind Mahoyaku, as anything with Vocaloid in it always pulls me in, so I was excited to finally introduce it here! And yet again, we’re starting with my favorite character – but don’t worry, because thanks to the polls, readers will start seeing the characters they’ve voted for from now on!

Member of Nightcord at 25:00 (also known as 25ji, Nightcord de, or even Nightchord or Nightcode before the official English translation of the game came out) in charge of the music composition, Kanade Yoisaki is a 16-year-old girl whose main priority became creating music that can ‘save someone’ after an incident which hurt the most important person in her life. Because of this, she attends online classes, and doesn’t leave her home unless absolutely necessary, having Honami Mochizuki as a part-time housekeeper to help her out with cooking or other housework. So far, things have been going well with her music circle, but maybe not for long after a strange song called ‘Untitled’ showed up on her computer desktop… With all that said, let’s begin!

The character I’ve decided to focus on today is Gray Reverse, from Helios Rising Heroes. Unlike Promise of Wizard, featured in the last entry, HeliosR is a game I’ve gotten into recently, and although I’ve read most of the events as of writing this, I’m not as confident on my knowledge of it, so I hope it’s still a good read regardless!

Gray Reverse is a 13th generation rookie from the East Sector, as well as the oldest member from said generation at 25 years old as a result of him failing the tryouts to become a hero twice in the past. His unusual hobbies (gaming, anime, collecting figurines, etc) and anxious personality made him an easy target for bullies during his time at the Helios Academy (including Asch, one of his current mentors), which only made him more closed off, but he’s aiming to become a hero to overcome his weak self. However, it seems like him passing the tryouts this time wasn’t completely due to his own abilities… But before digging further into it, let’s start with a general overview of his character!

To start off this series of posts, I decided to go for my all-time favorite character so as to ease into the workflow better, who is none other than Faust, from the game Promise of Wizard (also known as ‘Mahoyaku’, for short)!

Faust is a curseworker from Eastern Country, who has been living isolated from the rest of the world for the past 400 years before getting summoned as a Sage’s Wizard. His gloomy demeanor is somewhat off-putting for others at first, but his status as the teacher of the Eastern Country and his leadership skills foreshadow an unexpected past… Without further ado, let’s go into his in-game profile and some general characteristics!
